It was so awesome to go see Enoch at Ft. Benning! Although the flight was a nightmare there...overnight, 1 year old DOES NOT work. There was lots of rocking in the back of the plane. And she's pushing 23 lbs...my arms, shoulders and back look like I spend a lot of time at the gym everyday. Who needs a gym when you have a toddler? The trip was 9300 miles there and back. My mom came with me just to help out. If she hadn't, I seriously wouldn't have made it. In Atlanta of all places, we had to go down these crazy stairs to get to the tarmac just to walk up more stairs to get into the plane. We had the stroller and carseat with us. My mom took the bags down to the tarmac and I was at the top of the stairs with the stroller, car seat, diaper bag, my monster purse and Ashlyn in my arms. There was a guy behind me who just stood there as I tried to haul it all down this flight of stairs then had the guts to roll his eyes at me and sigh....I felt curse words on my lips but held it in. At this point it was 10 am thursday Hawaii time and I had been up since 5am Wednesday....I didn't sleep one wink on the flight over...So I was at my wits end. Ashlyn of course was very tired. She had slept a combined total of 5 hours since we left Hawaii at 8pm on Wednesday night. When I got to the landing the guy had been just slowly following me so I just glare at him and very audibly and flatly say, Thank you sir. So much for southern hospitality. We finally got to the hotel, which was very nice, at about 6pm and when we checked in, we were told there wasn't a crib available for us. When I kindly reminded the clerk that we reserved one online, we were told it's first come, first served and they only had 2 for the whole hotel...all 4 floors. My mom and I were shocked...so we had to go buy a pack-n-play. Finally we get settled and of course Ashlyn won't sleep. She is just frayed. We had been up 36 hours at this point and just could not function. Ashlyn had had 45 min naps here and there the entire time and was just beyond functioning. When it turned 11pm in Georgia, my mom finally said, just go to sleep. We had to be at the gates at 7am. Friday morning was a happy morning. I was so so excited. All the exhaustion was overwhelmed with anticipation.
Here are pictures from our amazing weekend as a family again. We got from 10am Friday morning until 4pm Sunday afternoon to do whatever we pleased.
It was so hard to say goodbye! But in 3 weeks I'll be back again for Enoch's Graduation!! Ashlyn will be staying with Grandma in Hawaii this time. There is no way I'm going to put her through that trip again. It was just too hard on her. Now she has a double ear infection and hasn't slept solid since we got back over a week ago.
